It must be remarked

here that the actual measurement

one gallon equals 6catties. The

duty paid on a basket of 12 bottles

is, at the standard rate fixed by the Ordinance as 1%8 gallon, whereas

by actual measurement it should be

(3) (1). Certain firms have

claimed for refund of duty on beer

having been found unfit for con-

-sumption after several months im-

-portation (duty paid). Such refund

cannot now he allowed. Claim may be

entertained when made at once and

the Superintendent is satisfied by

careful examination that the liquid

actually arrived here unfit for con-

-sumption or went bad in bond or in

licensed warehouses. If allowed, the

bad liquor should be destroyed in

presence of an Officer.

(2). Section 22 of Ordi-

-mance No. 27 deals with deficiency

of dutiable liquors in a King's

Licensed Warehouse and I submit the

loss or breakage shall not be enter-

-tained unless satisfactory evidence

can be produced under the following
